5000 rpms on a 22r... talk about operation engine kill... also what someone said bout the knn suckin the oil up into the intake... it happens when you overoil it. if you oil it correctly, you're fine. how to oil it correctly? if you find out, you're a bigger man than i, so ill stick with my drop in white filter

so what is the point of having the breather on the valve cover anyways? is it purely for emissions? or does it affect gas mileage at all?

You must have misread that.. my 22r RARELY excedes 3,800 i usually shift at about 3,300. I was sayin i feel bad for any 22r that does reach 5k if you look above my post you'll see what i was talkin about

it's part of the PCV system. with the stock setup it allows filtered fresh air to enter the valve cover / crankcase area to replace the contaminated air / fuel / oil / blowby sucked out through the pcv valve.

I've hit seven grand with my truck in a mudhole before on accident, sounded like a chipmunk in a vice grip, didn't hurt it though, I usually hit 5500 pretty often, no problems with my engine, in fact is never had any mechanical failures other then a water pump once.

FYI your wasting your money on a k&n filter, they suck, don't do anything that a stock one won't do, rememer if you have an open filter more chances that mud will get sucked in. Just get a fram and call it good, keep a spare in the toolbox..

seeing as tho i live about 30 mins from town, i like the KnN because i DONT have to go into town every time i need a new filter... and with the neighbors having a motocross track, filter cleanings are frequent...

It just blows my mind that they want $200 for the filter and the little black connecter ring!!! And all you get for it is a few horsepower up around 5k. Screw that noise! For $50 I'd jump on it.

I have what looks to be the same one in the original picture. I got it from LC Engineering, it comes with an adapter that set screws to the rocker cover.
