gauge cluster question

i have two sr5 gauge clusters and have a question about them. they both came out of trucks with the 22re motor, one out of a 4runner and the other was a pickup. both were also stick vehicles, i tried to install one in my 89 runner that is non sr5 and couldnt get it to work without moving around some of the wires, is there a way to know which trucks these are interchangeable with? i have two f them and would like to sell them but would also like to be able to tell the potential buyer if it will most likely just plug and play or need some wires moved like mine

any input is greatly appreciated

thanks

jason

It's plug and play with most 4Runners (mine was). A few 4Runners and some pickups require a tach wire to be run. Also, as you probably know, the 4cyl ones will not work with the V6 and vice versa.

I have the same problem. Hooked up a SR5 cluster and the only thing that is working right now is the Tach and Speedo, didn't have to run a line to the coil, luck I guess. All other gauges are going up for example: looks like I have a full tank of gas and my motor is about the overheat. All other idiot lights work great though, 4X4, e-brake, seatbelt, etc. If anyone knows how to switch things up to make everything work I would appreciate it too. I have a 87 4runner and the cluster came out of an 1985.
