well yeah, the detergents are proprietary. They still use different things for different states/cities because there are a lot of different fuel standards and such.

so I just calculated my test and the result.....
15.5 miles per gallon, I usually got around 14.99-15.5 gal with unleaded
I spent like $48 and break 200 miles easily. I could have gone a couple of miles more if I wanted to.
Overall for couple dollars extra ($2) I think it's worth it. I live in a town where stop and go is the norm and the highest octane gas made my truck run smoother without that stutter in the unleaded gas when below 600rpm. Plus, that extra boost from the higher octane (i guess) made me pick up speed pretty fast. I went to shell if yall wanna know. I now went to 76 and went for the middle gas octane tank.

Frickin gas in hilo, HI is like $4.00 for the supreme (highest octane)

You're nearly paying what we pay in Canada. Not even close to what Europe pays.

We shouldn't have to pay what people who don't have oil & refineries pay. Why not compare what we pay with what they pay in Kuwait or Saudi Arabia? That would be more accurate & you'd see we pay far more than any other oil producing & refining country.

My friend in Malta was paying the equivalent of $5 U.S. per liter of gasoline a couple years ago....but guess what; Malta doesn't have oil or refineries so that sort of makes sense. It also didn't matter to him to much because you can jump rope around Malta in 30 minutes; back then I was driving well over 100 miles a day for work not counting the trip to work & back (working out of state); with todays prices I can't afford to work! Now I stay home & let the wife work, even though her job is fuel dependent too, at least she gets mileage paid. It doesn't completely pay for fuel + wear & tear but it helps.
