(SEARCHED) 4Runner swing-away fitted to Truck??

Can this be done? I did a search or two, actually 5 and couldn't find any threads relating to this question. I could have sworn it had been answered before on here.

I'm starting to grow tired of my spare tire just hanging out in the back of the truck. Might be driving up the road to look at some parts off a 4runner and 90 Pickup and am pondering putting the swing-away on my truck if it would work without to much headache.

It'll either be a swing away or a bed mounted carrier, just haven't decided yet.

BTW, whens WABFAB going to start making bed mounted tire carriers?

While I think it might be do-able, I would think that you'd be inviting your passenger side of the box to get bent inward, since it would not have the added structure of the roof of the Runner to help support it.

I would think that you'd be better off, in the long run, with a bumper with a swing away built into it.

well if you can find one off of a 90+ 4runner you will have no prob mounting it you need the folowing swing away tire carrier and latch plate from 4unner
cant remember how many bolts but 7/16 or 3/8 will work twice as many large flat washers and a large jack stand remove youre right tail light and place the gate tight against the rear corner of the bed drill holes make shure the gate is suported bye the jack stand the rest is self explainatory hope this helps did it once on my 90 p/u
