Fuel sending unit?
im not sure but im at 198 miles and its still just below half tank i dont think that should be i changed the ujoints which were completley shot (which i dont think will change gas milage!) but iv actually been babying it i have 31 in tires but 4.88 gears what do you guys think?
could it be my sending unit and if so how hard are they replace do i have to pull the tank?
oh ya its a 91 4runner with the trust 22re

How many miles do you usually get to a tank? I would drive it more before 'fixing' anything.
When you say your u-joints were shot, does that mean worn out and loose? Were they difficult to spin/move? Have you noticed any increase in power/acceleration? If so, then you would definately get better mileage. Think about how much power is lost through the drive train when it is in perfect condition. Then think about how much power is lost with bad u-joints.
Also, if you have been babying it, that will drastically change mileage compared to driving it like you stole it.
