got another problem now...as long as i keep the pedal off the floor (as in NOT WOT) the truck runs fine..just like it should but as soon as i floor it..its like its dumping too much fuel in..and i lose power...acceleration sucks...and the motor develops what sounds like a misfire...what could this be???????

 

could be many things; TPS, AFM, fuel-filter, air-filter, fuel-pump, etc...

any CEL?

well, in that case, I'm not skilled in the the art of the stock Toy carb...

but I will stick with air and/or fuel filter maybe, lol

 

iamsuperbleeder hit on most of the things.
another could be timing set improperly, as in not having the diagnostic test port jumpered properly, or even if the test port is jumpered, not having the TPS set properly.

would be a good place to start; a rebuilt kit is usually purdy cheap and will take probably half a day to do thoroughly for a first-tymer...

 

Time to rebuild/adjust your carb. Don't feel comfortable in doing it then give it to someone else to do. Might be cheaper just to buy a new carb and adjust it from there.

Last year (I was 16y/o) I rebuilt my carb on my '75 chevy with a 350 and adjusted it and never seen it run better. Take your time in doing it. Good luck!

 

whoops. didn't realize 22r. /me hits head.
check the fuel level in the float bowl- there's a sight glass on the side and the fuel level should be in the middle. if it's not, the fuel filter may be clogged or the fuel pump may be giong out.

 

If I were you I would save up 300 and get a weber off of ebay. I was going to rebuild my carb on my 82, but I was talking to a my buddys dad and he told me that rebuilding the toyota carbs are about a waste of time. So I am now about to order my weber here in about a month.

 

well sometime in the future im going to swap out the 22R for a turbo'd 22RE..or i might just swap the efi and the turbo stuff...idk..so dropping hundreds of dollars on a new carb is out the question...i rebuilt the carb on my '80 and it got 20mpg's while it was running good..so i know what im doin mostly...so i might just get it rebuilt...but i think i'll get a new fuel pump first...see if that fixes it..i'll check some other things as well to make sure i dont spend too much moiney on stuff i dont need...thanks for the help guys!..and does anybody know about how much it would cost for a 22RET swap...or conversion...thanks for that info as well!

so anyways off the weber topic..and back onto the original post...what could this be?????its not like it has always done it..it just started...could it have somethin to do with an exhaust leak

replace fuel filter?
dump in some Lucas fuel treatment (best fuel treatment i have ever used)
improperly gapped plugs? (gap or better off change)
cap/rotor?

always check/replace cheap stuff first
