Fuel Gauge Problems
I filled my tank to completely full last night, drove around a bit and then drove home, about 17 miles total.
This morning I got in my 4Runner and the gauge reads just below 3/4 a tank.
Most of you might not think this is so unusual but I've noticed lately after parking and letting it sit for a while, that the gauge goes down a little more than where it was before parking it.
My neighbor said that it may be a leaking injector...?
Any input on why this happens would greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Have you actually documented the number of miles you get out of a tank to see if it has decreased at all? Many have said before that the stock fuel gauges are not very accurate. Without the the fuel pump running i doubt that a "leaky" injector would cause you to lose gallons of fuel. Just my 2 cents.

I have to agree with toyopnoy here...I dont think a leky injector is gonna make you lose enough fuel to even show on your gauge. without knowing miles per tank, theres really no way to tell, could just be your tank settling through the baffles, or a truly inaccurate gauge, but i dont think, barring a serious leak in a fuel line or the tank itself that you are losing gallons of fuel while just sitting.

what year 4runner in the first gens i know it is a common problem that the sending unit gos bad and alot of us gauge our gas by the low fuel light.
for example when i fill up the gauge says full i drive for a couple miles it drops to 3/4 then about 50 miles more it drops to empty on the gauge.i know i still have around 185 to 200 miles before i have to gas up again.
