I have a 93 xcab 3.0 my issue is the truck at random just runs like crap cutting out,sometimes feels like its running on 3 cyl. I have replaced the fuel filter new plugs cap rotor button ran injector cleaner through it a cpl times..i have no check engine light coming on..I have not replaced the fuel pump becuz i am under the assumption that when a fuel pump goes bad it just goes..now i did have a hole in the filler neck and found dirt laying inside of it that has since been fixed i do have a leak in the tank..the dirt is the reason y i changed the fuel filter..any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! thanks Ron

 

You can check if it IS running on 3 cylinders by pulling the plug wires one at a time.

If you have a cylinder not performing, pull the plug and look at it. If it's wet, you've got a spark problem (bad wires, etc.) If it's dry, some of the crap in the fuel tank may have gotten as far as an injector (there is a filter inside the injector which could be blocked, and if the crud got past that filter it could be clogging the pintle. All bad.)

Injectors can be cleaned/service for not-too-much money. But first you have to get them out.

 

but it doesnt do it all the time..if the filters in the injectors where clogged wouldnt it do it all the time?

 

Are you sure there are no codes stored? The light can be off but still store codes in the ecu.

I would do a plug wire pull and see if you hear a difference then pull plugs again.
Then maybe find an injector cleaning place near you and get your injectors cleaned. Or pull em out and send them to witch hunter. Hes a guy online and many people like him.

Its weird how it runs fine then just drops out?? Does it sputter ir just sound a little odd and go slow?
