front end noise

I have a 94 ex-cab 4x4, 3.0, no lift. When I turn the wheel all the way and hit any kind of bump a very awful metal on metal noise comes from the front end. But only when I'm at full lock and the suspension has to move up of down. The truck still drives fine, and I'm running 30 x9.50 tires so rub is not the cause. What could it be?

Thanks

you're probably hitting the steering stops on the lower control arms.
there are supposed to be nylon caps on the bolts that protrude from the steering knuckle but they often deteriorate and fall off.
maybe a squirt of lithium grease on the stops would help keep the noise down.

A set of four caps (sometimes called "anti-groan caps") cost less that $10 from the dealership. They don't last "forever," but I find they work a lot better than trying to keep grease on that point.

Just one man's opinion ...

i tried to put some bedline spray on them, seems to help a bit more than grease.
