flowmaster 40

i got me a flowmaster 40 put on yesterday with a 3inch powdercoated tip. anywayz its really quite. and it pisses me off. i think the reason it quite is the tailpipe from the muffle rback is just 2inch. is this the reason? also.. any of you guys with a 22re have gutted cat converters? ive had a few people tell me for some reason you cant do it to yotas. cuz if you can do.. im doin it. thankye fellers

You should have done 2.25" Pipe all the way back.. FYI

Either your Cat is plugged, OR they put the wrong muffler on, cause those are LOUD. I say chop it all off cat included and put a 12" Glasspack on it with a dump under the bed or side exhaust.. Punch out your cat and put it back on or replace it with a "test pipe" Emissions are retarded anyway.

i have a 2.25" from the y pipe to my muffler then i dynomax turbo with a 3" coming out of it. i would recomend just losing the cat all together ive had 4 yotas and never ran a cat on any of them. it frees up the flow and makes it sound better just be aware that running without a cat is illegal in most places

They are hard to punch out compared to the two others I have done. I did one on a Geo Metro that came out very easy. The one on my '88 p/u took at least 10 minutes of pounding with a 1" steel rod and a 3 lbs sledge. I'll have to get a new one when I'm due for a smog check.

i would go with 2.5" pipe off the muffler.

also if you have the non cali model "one o2 sensor" and no cat sensor, then you can cut the cat out with no problems.

well i didnt get new pipe or anything... just muffler and tip. algranger, does yours run good with cat gutted? ive heard yotas dont run good and get really bad gas mileage with the cat gutted. in virginia where i live, any aftermarket exhaust, susp, tires that stick out, window tintand a bunch of other stupid crap is illegal. and mines lifted, tires stick out, and aftermarket exhaust.. so i might as well go out with a bang. a buddy of mine has a mustang and got pulled over for doin 75 in a 65 and got a ticket for speedin, exhaust, and havin racing suspension

There is a shop a mile from my house that builds these trucks for guys who get there money from who knows where. One of the employees, or owner maybe, drives and F350 that has to be taller than the one in this picture. The leaf springs are shaped like horseshoes. They are called Krazy Kustoms. Name fits. They've been in business for a few years too and are building a new shop in the automall area.

I'm pretty sure that if it only has one sensor on the exhaust then its not a Cali model, but i could be wrong lol..

how ever if you only have the one sensor before the cat, then you can cut it off/out right in front of the cat. thats how mine has been for years!

I hvae the Super 44 off-road muffler on mine with a 2-1\4" tailpipe. It's not LOUD but it's decent. I removed my cat also and replaced that whole pipe with 2-1\8" pipe as well.
