Fixed a stripped bolt on the intake, do I need to replace the just-torqued gasket?
I'm almost in the "changed my H/G club".... thanks so much for all your help everyone, I'm very excited to crank this up!!
I stripped a couple bolts on the intake-to-head putting it back together yesterday. I've fixed the threads with an insert, but I had already torqued most of the bolts when it stripped. Do I need to replace the gasket between the head and the intake? I have a new replacement, but its el cheapo, and the current 'semi-used' gasket is from a very nice japanese gasket set e (its very thin, made of some sort of dark brown hard but slightly tacky rubber?).
Question 1: do you think I'd be better off:
1) Re-using the nice but torqued-once-yesterday japanese intake manifold gasket with hylomar added on each side of it
or
2) Using the brand new el-cheapo 'papery' gasket (probably do hylomar on this too, unless somebody thinks that's a bad idea).
Question 2: has anyone had luck finding crush washers for the pulsation dampener and cold start injectors? The toyota dealer doesn't stock them, and the fancy kit I used yesterday included them, but the el cheapo kit today doesn't.
Question 3: I had to take the metal pipe (that runs around the head to a heater hose) off the bottom of the intake manifold, so I need a new o-ring. What size should I use? The metal cavity where the o-ring sits is 17ID 24OD 2mm thick.... should I use a 2.5mm thick o-ring? 3mm thick? 3.5mm?

Just to clarify, the nice japanese gasket was brand new yesterday, but its been torqued once. I was thinking I could add a thin slick of hylomar to both sides, and re-use it. Or, just use a cheap gasket (can't get another nice one without getting a very expensive set).

Cannot help much but to says that Hylomar works excellent on any type of uncoated paper type gasket. If the gasket is a precoated type with built on seals around the port areas I would not bother with the hylomar.
