It finally happened...

Well, I finally did it... I got stuck for the first time!

I was leaving my girlfriends house last night/this morning at 1:30...

In front of me there was a 40 foot section of snow almost 2 feet deep in some spots. I COULD have just gone around it because one side was clear, but hey, I'm adventurous! I was just kinda putting along (I just turned so I wasn't up to speed yet) And I made the stupid mistake of not flooring it and plowing right through! Oh well, I still made it 1/2 way through before bottoming out and getting stuck The snow was about 18'' deep in the spot I got stuck. Not too bad for a bone-stock 4Runner

So, a little frost bite on 1 thumb and 2 fingers and 15 minutes later, I was outta there!

serious question... if you gt stuck in a large pile of snow, can you just sit there for a little while and let the heat from the truck melt the snow enough for you to get out?

I know, a dumb Floridian question but it would make sence to me, lol

You shouldn't "floor it". its best to keep a moderate throttle, like 1/2. flooring it may cause you to lose traction, then you'll get stuck anyways

Your right, I wouldn't have completely floored it, but I would have gave it a lot more gas than I was at the time

in theory it could work, but the gas u would burn and the time it would take[ till spring], u may as well dig yourself out.

sounds like a job for the mythbusters

I'm from florida. Got dumped here in colorado and now I'm stuck with the snow. If your truck does melt the ice, it's cold enough here to where it will refreeze faster than it melts. So you in turn just create ice and get yourself stuck even more.

Sounds like a serious question to me...

I can tell you that it doesn't work in mud though.

No you'd be there untill spring... You float on your whole belly, not just the hot spots. It is impossible to get out without shovelling or winch/pull/ Been there many times.

I concur. Kitty litter is your friend ....or simple gravel. When I use something like that to aide is traction, I have always done zero shoveling and I have always gotten out. Shoveling will always help though

That only works if you have a tire on the ground. I've been stuck on top of snow deep enough that no tires touch.
