Would it be cheaper to pay someone to repair those rust spots, or just replacing the bed entirely with a fibreglass one?

 

Has anyone here heard of Bondo, and a little sheet metal, Those fenders aren't that bad I had to repair worse on my 88 4runner.

 

I have a pair of Berik's for my dirt bike, my friends like them better than their alpinestars, and I only paid $90 for them off of Motorsport.com

 

Its really cheaper for me to repair it myself. The guy I know is making me panels for each sode on the bottom for 100$ for both. Also the wheel arches I am going to fix tomorrow just like I did with the bed rails. I gring them down to bare metal and then use Napa Crossfire Body filler and sand sand sand away until I am satisfied. Im just doing this for now. If I could find a nice rust free bed for a decent price I would def buy it.


I like alpinestars alot. I have always had alot of luck with them .

 

Here are a few pictures of when I installed the AAL to take the rear sag out.

 

them's look like ProComp AAL's.
but take notice of the spacing between leafs behind the AAL. That's telling you the stock leafs are rather well worn out (last two pictures).

Well maybe I shouldn't say anything until I see pics of the leafs on the wheels.

 

ive just got to come right out and say it: add a leafs and blocks are retarded!

 

While I would not advise using blocks for added lift, The AAL's were a better option for me because, I did not do this to simply get lift, I wanted to take the sag out of the rear end. I cannot afford to lift my vehicle at this time. So this was a better option for me. I also do not do any serious off-roading or crawling, so it suits my needs perfect. Im sure that there are some other people out there that will agree.
And yes the springs are pretty worn out. When I get the money I would do a lift and tires that would use a replacement leaf pack.

 

that truck is cherry compared to the bucket of rot that i bought. although great mechanically Toyota's paint and coatings division was pretty sad until the mid nineties or so. fiberglass body filler holds up better and is stronger than regular bondo, it is good for rust which is a way of life here in the midwest.
