finallly did it
Ive got 1988 4 runner with a 2.4 it was sitting on 32" tires and it really lagged bad, guttless even. For awhile I was looking to re-gear the slug but I decided on a different route. I hogged the livin hell out of the intakes into a match port at the head, did some work on the exhaust ports and matched the stock cast iron manifold to that and I polished and smoothed the transitions in the throttle body. It made a world of difference but it still lacked. Then I did the batt./airbox swap........holy smokes NOW i got a runner!.....more power through the entire RPM range and better throttle response.....its crisp for lack of a better word. Next on the list for intake modes will be a 60 mm TB out of a celica or something and a matching AFM. I do however think doing that will be a waste unless I get me a header to really get this sucka breathin. All told Ive got close to 150 hrs. just in port work and it was worth every minute.
