lol...thats a great idea. I can't wait to get one now

I wonder if thats why I had horrible starting sometimes. Sometimes I would have to put my foot to the floor and pump it a little while starting...kind of like a carb...LOL

When it's cold it starts fine. Then sometimes when it was hot out it would be horrible.

Probably so. I can see the engine flooding because the ECU still thinks the motor is cold, and opening the throttle plate allowed more air to be drawn in to offset the excessive fuel. I guess we'll see, though, eh?

O.K, I'm officially an idiot. I went to buy a ect and I noticed it was a different size. So I return it after I tried putting it in. I took the what I thought was an ECT to NAPA and they didn't know what the heck it was. I went to shucks and they didn't know what the heck it was. (LOOKS very similar to an ECT...but isn't!!!) So, I went to a toyota dealership and they ran the number and its some switch for cold start or something like that. (DOH!!!) I then took out the ECT (is to the right of that very similar looking switch thingy) and tested it. It seems fine though. I would say that it works just fine.

Go easy on yerself. You'll officially be an idiot when the 7-14 y.o. neighbor kid comes over and reconnects some obscure vacuum line or electrical connector and everything works like a peach.

j/k

That cold start injector timer switch 'still' could be a problem though. The resistance between the terminals should be around 20-40 ohms when the engine is below 86 degrees F and between 40-80 ohms when the engine is above that. If your cold start injector is not shutting off when the engine warms up enough, you'll have problems. Try checking that cold start switch with your meter on the x1 or x1K scale. It should read 20-40 (x1) or .002-.004 (x1k) below 86, and 20-40 (x1) or .004-.008 (x1k) above 86. Also, if you see the keyway on the plug, the resistance between the terminal to the left of the keyway (considering the keyway is on top) and the main body of the sender should be between 20 and 80 ohms all the time.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to need a little help on what you said...lol.

So, which setting do I put my multi-meter on? I know on ohms, but it says
200, 2000, 20k, 200k, 2000k...now which one???

Thanks. I also replaced my air filter today...I think mine was pretty well clogged. I noticed it awhile back but never mentioned it. I haven't driven my truck except for today and I ran out of gas in my driveway...at least I wasn't driving around town

Okay, I think I'm getting it now. Your meter requires you to divide the reading by the scale. So, okay. Considering neither of the values exceed 100 ohms, set the scale to 200. Then post the results.

Oh man! Wrong part....pffft! I hate it when that happens.

You might also test the ILDB.....just while your at it. It's not an easy test, but if you have trouble locating your ILDB, let me know. Although, I'm not real sure where it is myself. Maybe somebody else can help????

I went ahead and posted up the test for you. Here it is.....

(uups! just wait...it's comin')

Intracranial Logical Data Bank Inspection

Measure resistance between right ear and left ear
a)Place testing fingers in either ear
b)Hum audibly while clicking on specified object
c)Count number of REM's (2.3-infinite rem)

If not as specified, correct object was not chosen. Refer to pg.6-#144 of the 91Toyota Service Manual* for appropriate solution.

Quick question: how is one supposed to click on anything when your fingers are in either ear... is that 'all' fingers... maybe two fingers in one ear or the other or in opposite ears from the fingers? It's a touchpad... maybe use the nose? Then, where to put... oh nevermind.
And last I saw, R.E.M. doesn't have infinite releases, nor anything I can hum audibly- ever try to hum "it's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)"?

Quick answer: This is all part of the test....including which song to hum. A plain "Ohm" is good, but I....personally....like "Row, row, row your boat...."

What are you confused about? Testing the cold start injector switch or the absurd joke I was making?

Yeah.....the link was supposed to work. Apparently I did something wrong. Still figuring out how to put a link into words. Like when you click on the words "go here", it takes you to a website or something. Anyway, the link was supposed to take you to page 6 and post #144 of your thread here.....hence "91Toyota" Service Manual. Sorry....I thought you'd get a laugh, but instead it's a dud. Oh well.....c'est la vie! Atleast go see what's on pg.6. The joke will make a bit more sense......hopefully.

Oh I got it...the monkey with the pistol...LOL

Now it ALL makes sense.

And yes, I'm still confused about testing the CSIS (cold start injector switch...I just abbreviated it for short...lol)

Like abecedarian said, set your meter to the 200 setting. Then, follow this...

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...ne/39colds.pdf

You can test it on the vehicle if you measure the coolant temp. But, testing it in a pan of water with a thermometer works, too.

Alright, haven't driven this damn thing for like 2 weeks...lol.

Haven't tested anything, washed it TWICE and waxed it too.

Just ran out of gas in my driveway so I don't care enough to put gas in it to drive it...cuz I'm riding my motorcycle...lol

So, you're giving up?

If so, fine. Lemme know in 3 years when you decide to part it out.

Nope...I'm not giving up. I just don't care enough to put gas in it. I would love to fix it.

I just don't have the money right now. I will this summer...but I wont be driving it so I don't really care...lol.

Why do you think I would part it out in 3 years?
