Factory Tow Package

im heading out on my 3000 mile trip soon and i have a question about the Factory Tow package...

i know that the FTP came with the trailer hitch and the wiring harness to complement it, but heres where i run into a problem...
the hitch check out just fine and is sturyd, but the wiring harness isnt working... at all... as in no power going to the pigtail... and that with the running lights on, the brakes on or the turn signals on...

ive traced the pigtail up into the drivers side body panel and then lost it...
searched the FSM and came up short, and a search on here came up with a little info, but not enough...

does anyone know where those wires go to? is there a control box for the wiring harness? i imagine that they pull off of the factory wiring harness, or go thru a control box with some relays, but where would that be...

thanks guys, im stressing out because this has to be working by the 24th...

If worse comes to worse, Troy, buy the wire kit from vatozone. It's like $10 or so. I bought 1 for my step mom's exploder. Simple to wire in. Takes like 5 min. I know money's tight, but it's a suggestion, for being in a pinch.

I've often found the connections behind the left rear tail light.

are you needing a standard 4 wire plug or something with trailer brakes?

you should just be able to pick up a wiring kit that will allow you to just pull the DS tail light, unplug the wires and plug the adapter into that. $20-40 depending on where you go, it will have the Brake/tail and TS converter to allow the single light on the trailer

edit: nice little project trailer--be sure to inspect/replace/pack those bearings...those little tires are gonna be spinning pretty dang quick

Depends on what was installed, whether they used a factory connector or an aftermarket connector. Usually the factory connectors/wiring setups plugged into the tail light harness, then went down to the hitch. Most of the time, they didn't use a factory connector style harness and tapped directly into the wiring harness (bad idea)

Trace the wiring up into the body panel and beyond. You may have to take apart the quarter panel trim that is where they usually hide the controller box.
