Facelift begins
I just started begining the bodywork on my 86 4runner, just replaced the front fenders due to severe rust, i'm getting ready to repair the rust on the rear fenders and get it prepped for painting. I'm stuck between 2 colors for the paint job. 1) the factory toyota red with a black rhino lined top or 2) That new green they are painting the wranglers, the OD military looking green, with a black rhino lined top. It will of course have black wheels bumpers and sliders with either color. Any suggestions appreciated and i'll put some pics on of the progress so far.

Kawasaki green has always been a pretty sweet choice. I think the green I want would look alot tougher than the red, actually the only reason the factory red is a candidate is because it would be easier as far as interior and what not.

i say paint it green if thats the choises. but id like to see one done up in that late 90s dodge amathyst color. the dark purple. bomb can under the hood, since it gets filthy anyways and match the door jambs with your body color. it isnt that hard. are you doing the paint yourself?

I knew a guy back home that owned the local body/off-road shop that did an 85 toy pickup in that amathyst color, bobbed the bed had it on 37's looked awesome. I'm contemplating doing it myself, I had a scout that I painted myself and it didn't turn out too bad, this would entail buying some new equipment so i've not decided.

Have you checked out the roller paint job on TTORA? It seems like an easy method.

I'm gonna miss it. But I can't wait to get my 85 runner going! It's gonna be sweet!
I'd say for the paint, go with red. I don't like red, but if you go with close to what the truck used to be, it will have a more rich color to it. try painting an off white truck with od spray paint and you'll see what I mean.

With the new fenders on it already looks better. I hate rust i mean i could have a truck that was all dented up and as long as it didnt have rust i wouldnt care. Keep up the work man
