Facelift begins

Those splash gaurds are what kept the rust only on the fenders. Without them the inner fendrs, A pillar post and the fronts of his doors would all be eaten up too. Leave them in. Spray some undercoating on the inside of the fenders good, it will help keep future rust from happening.

I still haven't stripped down the paint on the rear fenders but i'm sure its not pretty, i'm going to take care of those this weekend so i'll post pics. I undercoated the fenders before I installed them, i'm going to leave the plastic fenderwells in there, just one more element blocker. One of my friends has a neighbor/friend that does spray in bedliners, I was also contemplating having the whole thing rhinoed. I could get it done at a decent price.

I haven't painted it yet, still finishing up the body work and prepping. I thought about olive drab it looks really tough but I still want it to have a sleek look to it. The green I want is the one they are painting the new Jeep wrangler unlimited's, pretty much an olive drab but a little bit darker and with a nice finish.

Ok, so I took the paint on the rear fenders all the way down to usable sheet metal and this is where i'm at, the passenger is worse than I thought it was because it was being hidden by those stupid plastic pieces that tend to hold moisture in (damn plastic), unless you are trying to keep your toy all original I highly recommend removing any unecessary plastic for that reason. I think i'm going to head to the yotayard in Denver tomorrow and see if they will cut some rear fenders out for me and go that route, depending on what they charge. Heres the pics.
