this threads great, lololwether or not you think theyll find out or not, its better to just tell em.
"so today i was in accident"
"is everyone, vehicle alright?
"ya, just a fender bender, idiot caused a pile up and i had my brakes locked up but still tapped his car. he raced away before i even realized what happened"
first accident usually equals a get out of jail free from parents unless it was your fault.
they were more than likely mad at you lieing about it than the piece of plastic that got f'd up

I bet the O.P's rents are more worried about his driving and not his truck. Kids can be pretty stupid, just lack the experiance..
At least you told them and didn't lie or try to hide it (for long
).. Plead your case, and drive smarter. But hey take it with a grain of salt. I am only 18 too

One time when I was 16 I was backing the family 61 Pontiac Catilina out of a buddie's drive and just caught the end of the bumper on a rock wall. Bent it out a few degrees. One of my buddies said to not worry we could push it back in. So i went over to the high school where there was a huge oak tree and pushed the bumper back. Sure enough there was only a "slight" wrinkle in the bumper. A few months later my dad and I was leaving the house and he points down to the wrinkle and said "looks like someone backed into the car and didn't tell us."
I thought for a moment and said "Hmmm, yeah why would someone do that?"
Deny, Deny, Deny! Don't ever forget it.

I really feel sad that some of you guys are afraid of your parents, even if e-exaggerated perhaps.
I guess I was fortunate that I was never afraid of my parents. If I screwed up I told them and moved on. If I ever did try to hide it they found out anyway and then I just got in more trouble.
Parents are not supposed to be your friends but to try and guide you into adulthood with some sense and character. Now that I have boys of my own I can much more appreciate the things my parents did and taught me.
Am I perfect? Just ask my wife.
But I am thankful that I have parents that have been married 50 years and that they are a part of my boys' lives as well.
Glad you owned up to your accident. One day you will be appreciative that they gave a rip and got mad.
The truth may not always be the easiest path but it is the one that breeds true character.
Good luck.
