Ethanol-free gas

Ethanol-free gas
A place near my new home has ethanol-free gas (only 90-octane is avail) . I plan on using that to see if I have any improvement in the hot startup issues I have at times (idle is either too high or too low on hot start ups depending on idle adjustment, seems to never be perfect). Doubt it will have any effect on the idle but I do like that ethanol-free gas stays stable so much longer than the 10% sh** here in on the east coast. A tank does last me months since the truck is not a daily driver & I will adjust the timing to compensate for the higher octane. I think the the pros (stability) of the "pure" gas outweigh the cons (price, octane). I know my small engine carbed-equipment is much happier now, hoping the 22RE will be happier too!
Anybody else run ethanol-free gas? Notice any difference?

I do whenever I can find it around my town. I am a firm believer that Toyotas don't get along with ethanol'ed gas very well.
I also think I saw that in an FSM someplace. I'll see if I can find it.
Good luck!

As far as I know, no ethanol free pump gas is available anywhere in the state of Arizona.
I do buy a bit of 100 octane low lead aviation gas from time to time, for my small engines.
Can't use it in anything with cat or O2 sensors though.

You shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet,
At least 10 of these 'gas stations' are hotrod/speed shops that sell tin canned racing fuels at ten dollars, or more, a gallon.
Several others are boat marinas at large lakes and can't/won't pump fuel into automobiles.
A few other listings are out of date and there is no non ethanol fuel to be bought at them.
This may leave three or four stations statewide that might pump pure petroleum gasoline.
None of these less than 70 miles from me, if they actually do exist.
Any 'Zonies here who can state they know of non ethanol gas to be bought from a gas station pump in Arizona right now??? Please post up!!
In and around Tucson and Phoenix, oxygenated fuels are mandated by law in certain seasons, and that means alky laced fuels.
Virtually no gas stations are willing to change their pumps, signage and storage to accommodate fuels that they might legally sell only at certain times of the year.
This effectively means no non ethanol fuel is available in AZ.

My $0.02...Pennzoil will plug up your engine; Champion spark plugs will kill performance; ethanol blended gas will gum up your engine....blah, blah, blah.
Why is it that my '89 Corolla's been running fine after 13 years 170,000 miles on Arco 87, Sinclair 87, Chevron 87, military base gas station(s) whatever 87, etc etc. California gas, Oregon, Gas, Washington gas. Why does my ancient TroyBilt rototiller start 2nd pull each spring on whatever California gas station gas remained at the end of last season? Doesn't even need a whiff of starting fluid like the mower does sometimes.

Wow, unfortunately a Ca. resident where gas is toxic, I can only afford to run garden tools on non -ethanol; i,e., chainsaws, tiller, pressure washer, etc, which goes for $50/ 5 gal, and the toxic gas at the station is at $5/ gal. Been running 65 F100 on Ca. toxic gas for the past 40 plus years and in approx. every 4-5 years find I have to rebuild or replace the carburetor.

But I agree with you on your first point. A vehicle that is run constantly will operate just fine on ethanol gas. I moved from OR to CO back in 09. OR had no ethanol and CO was ethanol only. My 3 dirtbikes, my street bike, my pickup and my car all still run fine to this day.

I've been running ethanol free In my trucks for the last couple years. I get slightly better MPG and don't worry as much If the gas sits around a while. I've been running it in my saws, mower, etc. for a long time now and don't have near as many issues. I think it is a wise choice if it is available, especially in anything that sits for any amount of time.

Some ethanol free gas is starting to appear in southern Arizona.
The Maverik station in Benson AZ has 87 ethanol free @ about $3.30 a gallon, while 10% ethanol 87 gas is about $2.80
I see that a Circle K station in Tombstone also has ethanol free gas.
I'm pretty sure that in the large AZ metro areas like Tucson and Phoenix, non-ethanol fuels can only be sold seasonally, if at all.

I can get ethanol free gas at the Circle-K around the corner from me in Marana. The price is typically the same as premium. The Maverick at the Tangerine Rd exit off I-10 also HAD it. I went one morning to fill up and none of the pumps had hoses.
My trucks seem to run better. My carbureted trucks don't have the gas flashing off in the fuel bowls during the summer. It doesn't go bad as fast. I don't get all that tank pressure people complain about either. I filled my wife's FJ Cruiser up with non ethanol in Show Low AZ without telling her. She later commented how good her truck is running and that she's getting better mileage for some reason. So I don't think it's all in my head about running better.
There's a few Youtube videos from small engine repair places saying you may not be getting ethanol free gas when you fill up your one or two gallon gas cans for your small engines. Most pumps share pipes I guess and even though you select non ethanol, you will get the ethanol fuel in the pipe until the non ethanol fills it. They tested it. So fill your vehicles before you fill your small cans.
