Engine revs uphill, clutch?

Engine revs uphill, clutch?
I have a 90 Toyota P/U 4WD, 22RE engine 5 spd manual transmission. Occasionaly when I go up a hill, the engine revs up on its own, like the clutch is slipping. It only happens in a high gear, usually fifth gear. It grabs fine in the low gears. I can put it in first gear, let out the clutch with my foot on the brake and it does not slip. The engine dies immediately, as it should. I suspect the clutch plate is worn but want to be sure befor I attempt to install a kit. Can anyone tell me if this symptom could be caused from something other than the clutch. The rear end maybe. Something is slipping and I am not familiar enough with the drive train to be absolutely positive what the problem is. Any imput will be appreciated.
BTW, this is a great site with a lot of information.
thanks, Rockit

Mine did that about 3 years exactly what your r describing and it was the clutch but had a friend that had somewhat slipping in 4th and 5th but no other gears and his tranny was the problem but i would say 95 percent your clutch is toast

There's really nothing else in the drivetrain to slip. If the tires have good grip, the only thing that can slip is the clutch. If the rear end gear starts to slip, it'll strip completely. Same goes for the tranny gears. You need a new clutch.
