Does anyone know about compatibility issues with 22RE engines out of trucks of different years? I have a '94PU w/ 2.4L 22RE and might have a possibility of getting a 22RE from a '97?/'98? Taco. Any issues, or any help with general compatibilty with the '94 is appreciated.

 

The 22re ended it's life with the 95 model trucks.

The taco's use the 2.7l 4 banger from what I understand.

There are plenty that have swapped out to this newer and arguably better motor just search for it.

If I was going to do a yota swap though, it would be to a 3.4lV6 or even a 4.0 or 4.7l V8.

If you're going to go through the hassle, do it right.

 

The taco swap is good also.. 2.7L.
I think that post 1988.5 the 22RE should largely be the same (I'm talking in terms of electronics/manifold). Any 22RE will work.
