Hey i have a 93 toyota p/u i just bought, the owner before me had the motor rebuilt 2 times. each time it drinks 2 quarts of oil a day, i dont know why it causes this, anyone know? i think its the seals?

 

Ummm do you have a puddle? Do you have blue smoke? Can you see where it's leaking if it is?
I don't think the rebuild was a very good one...

 

no i havent even cranked it, my fiance brother is who i got it from, but its not leaking, its burning

 

I can't see it running very well using more oil than fuel...it's gotta be leaking somewhere??? If not that thing will smoke more than the bat mobile having a bad day...

 

there ain't no way i can crank it now, it was setting up for awhile, rats got to the wiring harness.

 

If it's burning the oil, it's either the rings and/or intake valve guide seals.

You said 2 quarts a day, how many miles is that?

 

Well, at least that solves your oil problem for now. Who cares about oil consumption when you have a wire harness problem.

Where you located??? Are you looking for a new harness? Engine harness or Dash or both? What motor are we speaking of?

 

All depends on how bad it is and where it's chewed. How good are you with a soldering iron?

Alright I have a 88 3.0 5spd for parts...not going to do you much good...I tried.

Check the local yards for a harness...

Well were all in that boat...I had a small fund for my runner to get fixed and that went to the clutch on the truck that I'm starting tomorrow...

You can try and fix it up what could it hurt???

Well wiring harness will cost a few bucks...Some wire and a soldering iron are not all that much. I'm sure you can get a decent iron for $30.00 and wire for less than that. If you bought a vehicle that does not run apparently you have one that does so I'm assuming you don't need this running straight away. Download the FSM from my sig and start reading on the wiring. That would be my first objective it to get the wiring done.

 

actually i fixed the engine problem, im spending $200 for a new 22RE motor with 88,000 miles on it, came out of a farm truck. now is the wiring problem.
