Engine Light On

OK here I go. I also have a 1995 ford explorer and the enging light has been on now for quite some time. I was told that if I take off the battery leads and let it sit for a half hr. or so, this would reset it. Is this true. please let me know, also if this is how you do this.

You gotta pull the codes and find out what is causing it. Got to Autozone or Pep Boys and the will do a free diagnostic for you.

i think the 95 is still an eec-iv? if so you should be able to pull the codes by shorting the terminal in the engine. I used to own a 93 btw. go join www.explorerforum.com, and post on there and they can help you decipher the codes. If you just want to clear it on the eec-iv it only takes about 5 mins of being disconnected to totally reset the computer. on the newer systems it takes longer (up to 30 mins).
