I had one in my 4Runner for awhile. I added it and then removed the engine driven fan.. trying to chase down a few extra hp. I didnt notice any great difference and decided to put the stock setup on again and leave the electric fan to my Supra, which is more radical than my 22RE'd 4Runner anyway. Perma-Cool makes some good products.. hmmm... sounds like I should get off my butt and do a product review.

I remember seing a discussion on electric fans over on Pirate 4x4. No one mentioned milage or HP gains. It was more about clearance issues when swapping in a Chevy 350 or Supra motor. You can get really slim 2 speed fans from a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable with a 3.8 litre engine. The 2 speed aspect seems cool and they can be had for not much $$ at junkyards.
