EFI fuse keeps blowing

EFI fuse keeps blowing on my 91 22re...truck was running in driveway...and idling up and down while warming up....it was -8 this morning....truck just stopped running..efi fuse blown out.....disconnected o2 sensor, moved wires around still nothing......jumped b+ with fp and fuel pump will not come on, but the jumper wire gets real hot .. Do you think it is a seized fuel pump causing the problem or something else

Before you damage something else. Get a tail light bulb & socket and plug it in where the fuse is. When the light goes out you found you short. By the sound of it, its right straight to ground so it should be easy to find. Probably the pump, but it could be anything. That's why you need to replace the fuse with a lamp.

Great idea...Thanks

How can I check the fuel pump ? Disconnect the harness at the pump and check for continuity across both terminals ? If I get a short the pump is bad ?

Just un plug it. If the light goes out, you can test the pump two ways. One is directly across a 12vdc source and see if it smokes, after removing it from the tank; or check the resistance and if its zero or close to it, then you have your culprit.

I installed the test light into the fuse connection...light stayed on.. tried cranking light went off....stopped cranking and light came back on. unplugged fuel pump..light stayed on.

Tested the ohm reading on the pump connector..and it read ZERO...looks like the pump is shorted out. There was 12volt at the pump connector when I jumped B+ and FP. With the pump unplugged...the test light stayed on when cranking.

Turns out the pump is fine.....it was the brass electrical connection/insulator that goes thur top of the fuel pump mounting bracket...the plastic insulator was broken, and shorting out the + wire to ground.

Does any one know where I could purchase a new brass electrical connector/insulator that goes thru the top fuel pump mounting bracket ?
