I've been reading every possible thread there is about the ect switch, here, there, almost every where. I know what it is, what it does, and why it's there. Most importantly how and when to use it.
On my third runner, (rolled the first, the second rusted out and burnt exhaust valves), this 1990 T4R is giving me reason to smile once again. The silly little ecr switch decides on its own when it wants to work and when it doesn't. The dash indicator light works fine. The switch itself clicks as it is supposed to.
The question(s) I pose to the masses is(are) this(these). "Is there any diagnostic literature out there that can lead me to the possible cause of this intermittent failure?" "Could this be a sign that something else, bigger, scarier, is going on?" "Where are the controlling connections, boxes, fuses (if any), links that might be affecting this control?"
I love this function of my transmission and would utilize it if I could just figure out how to get it to turn on and stay on for more than a day or two. The latest outage has been over a month now and I'm getting kind of frustrated with trying to figure it out.

I have a extra switch you can have it the problem turns out to be the switch itself. That's about all the help I can offer sorry.. Let me know I will put it in the mail

Good thing... mpwarfy sent me a replacement switch.

Bad thing... it still goes out randomly. In the last three days it has come on about 5 minutes or so after starting in the morning, went out on the way to work, came on after work and stayed on all the way home till the next morning when it's out again while I let the lil runner warm before leaving for work again. Not exactly a pattern but I hope you get the point.
