ebrake switch - info/picture needed

A while ago I yanked on my ebrake, heard a pop, and now the light won't turn off. Fluid's good and the light turns off when I press the switch manually. I can't for the life of me see how the switch is supposed to be pressed. Does anyone have a picture of the assembly?

Is there a paddle or something that's attached to the cable? The switch is to the left of the ebrake handle shaft ..

Thanks for any help,

Isaac

YOur sure the fluid is good, if its even the little bittiest low it will throw the light off. Did you check the cable in the back?

There is a little knob on the side of the actual shaft. When the e-brake lever is all the way in, it pushes the button. You might have broken yours off. I'd get you a pic, but I broke mine off a while back. Grab your e-brake handle and see if you can spin it all the way around 360*. If so, the knob is definitely broken off.

I used a zip-tie and some tape to hold my button in.

Crappy.. so to fix this, you need a whole new shaft, eh?

I'll see if I can jerryrig something, because I have a sinking feeling I need the brake indicator to pass safety. It just feels like something they'd be anal about.

Otherwise I'll just tape it, because my DRL won't work till the switch is depressed.. and that definitely won't pass safety.

Thanks.

Neither will your cruise control.

I'm really not sure if you need a whole new shaft or if you can just replace the little knob thing (it looks like it might just thread into the side of the shaft). I rigged mine, then got too lazy to fix it the right way.

Mine had a screw and spacer screwed into the shaft nice and ghetto like. I just cut the wires and bypassed it

Just went out to the garage and snapped a pic for you. Sorry about the quality (cell-phone), but you get the jist. I guess you're missing the prong? if so, it shouldn't be too big a deal to add a screw and a bent piece of metal to active the microswitch..
