Driveshaft Swap W/3.4 Conv.

Hey everyone...

I just got done doing a complete engine conv. in my 89' extended cab 4x4 pickup. Threw out the 22re and installed a 3.4 w/auto out of a 2003 tacoma.

Anyways, everything is all done except the shock mounts and driveshaft. The driveshaft is about 5-7" too short. Now here is the question. How long is a driveshaft out of a smilar year 3.0 w/auto truck? Doing the swap with the 3.0 w/auto doesnt need driveshaft mods correct? Im thinking it may be easier just to buy the front portion of the driveshaft from a salvage yard then getting it extended by a driveline shop.

And last question I swear If anyone could get a measurement off there driveshaft (1989 or equivelent 3.0 w/auto extended cab) from flange to flange. That would be AWESOME!!!

I can measure mine, but I thought it was going to be too short too because of the Marlin adapter to fit the auto tranny to a gear driven t-case.

Oh, well thanks for reminding me! haha. This is just a 2wd transmission. Im not running the transfer. So im guessing i would need a measurement from a equivelent 3.0. SOrry about the misunderstanding

Oh you're talking about the front part of the rear drive shaft. You took out the 4WD huh, is this for Baja?

Im talking about the driveshaft that goes from the transmission (the flange) to the carrier bearing (the flange there). So would need a measuerment off a 1989 3.0 2wd auto extended cab.

No need for the 4x4 anymore. Plus the truck has custom spindles so have 4x would be impossible. The truck has an insane amount of articulation (3-link) plus a locker so it is pretty much unstoppable. Very fun to drive non the less.

The truck is a dezert whore. haha. It goes everywhere from death valley all the way to mexico.

Wow, that tranny shifter setup is saweet! I read through everything but Im still lost on the operation with the torque converter lockup. And I could use the buttons on my steering wheel to shift?!? WOW! Next paycheck for sure. haha.

As of now, Im not running a trans. cooler. Just need to get it up and driving. But believe you me, its going to need a one hell of a cooler the way i drive.

Yeah isn't that nice, I'm going to be getting one too. The TC lock-up is just a switch of your choosing, as I understand it. I guess Brett is in Mexico right now, away from e-mail contact.

There aren't too many people with 2wd ext-cabs around I guess. Maybe if you put that in the title it might help. What ever you do don't ask about a 2wd on the EXTREME ROCKCRAWLING Pirate board, oops too late lol . I'd like to see more pics of your rig.

I have a friend with that exact engine, truck, but there is no way he would measure that if I asked him, and he in in CA, so I can't just go measure it.
