Question downey headers and exhaust?

are they worth it? i have a 87 pickup with a 22r. i definitely want a new exhaust and headers, and i am looking into downey. it seems like they have the most knowledge and experience. its about 400 for the headers and 400 for the exhaust system. is it really going to be that much better than say a 280 dollar pacesetter header and 220 dollar exhaust?\

i would just like to hear from some people who have downey exhaust and people who have other stuff.

any kind of insight or advice is appreciated

thanks
parker

i got about 90,000 out of my downey header, then the number two primary cracked off at the mounting flange. ran it that way for about 10,000 wondering where my exhaust tick was coming form. replaced it with a LCE stainless header.... added a flex joint for $15 to prevent undue stress to the header down the road. almost went with that thorley header [lifetime warrenty] as its more lowprofile/shorter then the LCE. The primay's on the downey are about a foot shorter then the LCE.

I was gonna say go with a thorley because they are great and lower priced than the LCE but I just looked at current prices and I guess they are the same now. I guess things have changed alot in the past year, I paid under $200 from Summit for mine.

x2 on the flex joint.

I'm running the DT but prices really seemed to have jumped since I bought mine 2 yrs ago. If you search around I'm sure that information on keeping the manifold and redesigning the exhaust to mimic a tri y long tube header is out there and I've seen the write ups. Don't settle for Pacesetter you'll probably not be happy.
