Door LOCKS keep going up and down

OK I have this problem of when I start my rig, (95 4Runner) my eletc. door locks keep going up and down. If I turn the rig off, and restart, at times this seems to stop them. Any clue of what this could be, and what I shood look for. Thanks for your help.

Note: today it did it befors even starting with the key in on acc.

I had a customer come into the dealership I was working at with this problem and it turned out to be the keyless entry was messed up. She thought the car was possessed.

sounds like the factory, or aftermarket keyless is in some sort of auto lock mode. Did your battery die or get disconnected? Check your owners manual for keyless instructions.

keyless entry - the thing with the buttons that goes on your keychain that allows you to unlock your vehicle from a distance without the use of a key

We had an Acura that did that.

It would also LOCK YOU IN.
If you hit the door button to onlock the door - the lock would unlock and the auto relock. The lock knob is "slick" and wont let you pull it up. If you did - it would auto lock.... scary until you realize that the window would still go down.

Ordered a new door lock assembty (on the Acura Legend - its an integerated peice to make it theft resistant) and then the battery went a few days later before I got a chance to install the actuator...

The battery fixed the problem.. Go figure..

My doors intermittently unlocked by themselves, usually when I was opening or closing the passenger door. Turns out it was a wire that was broken inside the little rubber hose where the wires go from the door to the body of the vehicle. I could get the doors to unlock just by swinging the door partly open and partly closed. Now, if yours is locking and unlocking, but only when the key is in the ignition, then I suspect your lock circuit is shorting somewhere. The "unlock" part is automatic... if you lock your doors with the key in the ignition, they will auto-unlock to prevent you from locking your keys in the car by mistake.

I know that if I try to lock my doors with the truck off and the keys in the ignition, it immediately unlocks the doors. Maybe this info will help you somehow...
