Do I have the wrong shocks?

Alright, well I got to install my BJ spacers and LC coils and all goes well in the front, get the springs on in the back, and i go to pull out my new shocks and they dont fit on the bottom mount.

So all you guys who run Rancho RS5009 out back... whats the trick? The part number is correct engraved in the shock, but it the mounting hole is waaaay to small to go over the stock mount.

Kind of off topic but I was wondering which LC coils you went with? Year/ Color code?

I just remembered that you have to press out the center metal piece in the bushing and then a little trimming with a razor blade and it will slide right on. I think I used a vice and a couple of sockets to press out the metal piece.

I had to do some haxoring to the ProComp9000's I bought... Been awhile since I put them in but I remember it being a PITA! ... Since pushing in the extra set of bushings wasn't really actually possible. Required cutting and stuff

fit fine now

however, the shocks are to short, would of gone with longer ones but whatever.. bilsteins will be there soon with the sas =)

Thanks Slo. Between pressing, pulling, mashing.. we finally got that center piece out. Today I'll trim 'em up and hopefully finish the back up.

Cool, I think the trimming was pretty easy to do. When you get it all together, it may be wise to do some measuring to see if you need to add to your bumpstops.

Yep, I bought some of those shocks when I first got my '86....had to do the same thing. I just used a drill and bit on high speed to ream out the bushing. Came out real nice. Then, I greased the bushing a bit and they slid right on....for the rear and the front, as I recall.

Hello, Exeter! Nice to meet you yesterday at O'Reilly. I'm replacing a u-joint and exhaust donut gasket today. Atleast the weather has warmed up for us, eh? Good luck!
