do 4runner have these too?
sorry about the title but i wasn't sure how to go about asking for help on this one.
i'm working with the speakers in my extra cab '92 4x4 and it appears that the tool that owned it before cut some cables inside the rear speaker enclosures. he cut the cable so short that i can't even solder them back together. to clarify: it's not the speaker wire i'm having trouble with but the cabling for what appears to be a mini amp inside the speaker housing. i would find a donor extra cab but around here they are fairly rare. there are, however, quite a few 4runners at the pic-and-pull so if 4runners also have the same (or similar) in-housing amps, i can go and pull a pair and avoid trying to fix these. any ideas? thanks

I have them in my 92 back home. They are indeed mini amps but they tend to stop working after time. I tried hooking them back up and they blow the radio fuse.. Gives those 4 inchers some really good bass haha.

I would just wire in a diff amp. I know my 4runner doesn't have anything like that. Not sure about 2nd gens though.

Yeah but the stock amps are so cheesy it doesn't sound like it's worth your time.

yeah, i wish it was that easy but the moron who had the truck before me cut the cables really close to the circuit board on one side and damaged the other side's board pretty bad so i'm going to have to get replacements. good to know 4runners also have these. i will hopefully find a couple of boards at teh junkayrd. thanks

forgot to update this: i fixed it by hunting down the same amps on a 4runner at the junkyard (they are the same but the speaker box is shaped differently). it was an easy fix, sounds fine now
