Direct Bolt-On? Transmission+Transfer
Newb question...I have a 93 ex-cab 22re, G58 trans, VF1A transfer...would a W56 trans and RF1A transfer case from a 88 22re ex-cab bolt directly into mine? I haven't checked out the parts yet but i believe the 88 parts are top shifts...any alignment issuses? I was originally just gonna get the stock aisin locking hubs from the 88 but if i can get the W56 and the gear driven X-case too why not... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They all bolt up fine. 3 things that you have to deal with.
1. Speedo (mechanical or electric) All the gear cases are mechanical as far as I know. You can get a converter from Marlin Crawler, thats what I did when I went gear.
2. Shifter location. You may have to cut the floor a few inches.
3. Drive shaft flange bolts come in 2 sizes. You may have to drill the flangs (1-2mm) holes on the driveshaft or just put smaller bolts in.

Thanks Flash...
1. Didn't really know about the speedo issue...will have to look into that.
2. Not to worried about hacking the floor up...I just hope I cut only once.
3. The lengths of the stock driveshafts (front and rear) should be ok then to mate up?
thanks again

The lengths are fine just the older trans/xcases had smaller holes in the yokes by a few mm. Not a big deal as they are centered on a lip inside. You just have to get a bolt that fits or drill a little bit.

checked out the 88...the trans and xcase were missing the shifters!! I guess someone just needed the shifters only...Anyone know if G58/VF1A shifters will fit on the w56/RF1A...i doubt it though. Would really save the time of hunting down these parts

Don't want to make a new thread.
Would an R151F transmission bolt in place of a W56 transmission?
