A different kind of leaf swap question
If I were to go leafs in my Runner (to match 4" IFS lift) just should I grab the 86's rear or the 3rd gen 2wd pickup rear and just swap axle shafts, the engine bay tag says the 3rd gen is 4.10:1. (same as mine and either would cost me $40.00) So I should be able to swap the shafts and keep the bolt pattern, correct? a little side question - Is the 2wd axle spring under or over? Thanks for any imput...

Grab an '86 rear, skip the 2wd. I don't know if it is sprung over or under on those, but it would be easier to grab the '86 because you could just take the whole thing, shafts and all, because it is the same, lug pattern, width, etc.

Thanks for the info... I'll pull the 86's and ditch the shafts and gears (to make it easier to carry out of where the truck sits (and I'll be by myself) to where I can get it on my cart... Then I'll pull the gears (4.10's same as mine)from the 4cyl standard 3rd gen pick up (if it's 2 pinion) and have my wifes cousin weld it (free) (until I have the money for a locker) Thanks again...

Cannot get to it because there is a lot of other car and such in the way. It was almost impossable to get my tools in there to get the IFS lift off of it. There is hardley enough room to walk between the cars...
