I'm looking for the Nissan part that everyone uses for the diff breather mod. Does anyone know of an online source? The parts stores around here just look at me like I have a third eye on my forehead when I try to explain what I want.

4crawler.com has the part #, you can get it from a Nissan dealership, he also lists the ALL Toyota parts for the diff breather. You can source those from any dealerships, including those online. I ordered mine ( nipple and breather) for like $11 I think.

 

If you don't want to use that part you can do like I did and just pop the one way releaf cap off and get some fule line and a couple claps and route the hose up to the top of the motor in the front then up to the fuel fill on the rear it works just as good but with out the extra parts.

 

iirc, steve150 (member?) had the part #'s listed on his build page. i picked mine up at the dealer, even got a good price!

Nissan differential breather part # 38323-C6010; cost around $4.50/ea.

 

I didnt bother with the breather, I just ripped off the cap and attached a line to that. Have submerged it in water, no leaks. Routed it up behind my taillight.

 

once i attach a hose to the diff...and route it to where its going to be...what do i do then....does there need to be anything on the other end...or do i just leave it opened...is there some kind of cap that u guys are using or what..thanks in advance..i recently submerged my both of my axles ...do i NEED to replace my fluids...or should everything be ok...last time it happened...the front axle was submerged for around 20 mins ...(i had to wait on my friend to get there to pull me out)...the rear hasnt ever been under for more than about 30 seconds...lol..thanks once again

not sure about the rear, but i would change the front. if the rear was totally submerged i would change to. whats 25 bucks compared to 500 for a rebuild.

It's a little pricey but comes with everything you need.

 

is this just for 4x4 guys along the same lines of (keep stuff out) snorkels and high exhaust? or is there any 2wd street benefits?

 

its good because it will prevent your breather from getting clogged and pushing the gear oil past your seals

 

Ok so I just bought 1/8" brass fittings that seem to fit perfectly. Hold to tube very well, hose clamp not really needed, and come with teflon tape already on the threads for 1.79 each at true value hardware. could also put it on an angled connector for tranny and transmission.

 

did you guys tape your with teflon??? I just grabbed the breather plugs yesterday I havent got my hose yet though.... I guess teflon might be a good idea ... but Id worry about it loosening with bumps

 

I guess in theory it could come off. But it came with it on it, and I'm lazy as hell. If it hadn't been on it already I'd agree with you more, cause I'm lazy. Now that it's already on it I'm going to say it seals better with it, so I don't have to take it off
