Problem with pvc is that it melts/soft with heat, Gets warm under the hood.
But other then that, Marvelous material

 

With PVC pipe it will also depend on what type you buy schedule 40 or schedule 90 pipe. Stuff that is cheaper and thinner that is used for down spouts or more expensive and thicker stuff you use for septic systems. That one picture looks like a 120 degree bend not a 90 degree bend.

 

The pipe I used is the thicker stuff meant for electrical. It was a 90 that I cut to fit. It works well so far although I would probably use one size smaller diameter next time. Knowing what I know how lol.

 

I put an Allen Johnson snorkel on my 94 p/u about 7 years ago, works great! I used 3" PVC, I will get some picks up when I get a chance, my brother is driving it right know. I am currentley working on one for my 3.0 4runner, I have already taken off the silencers and I got my brass fittings from Harbour Freight, 3 for 2.99$ I will post some pics when I finally finish it.

 

is it possible to do a deckplate with a snorkel....im looking at doing the deck plate soon...then down the road getting a snorkel...pull the deckplate out for daily driving and plug it for offroad underwater stuff...

 

The opening from the snorkel fitting will be plenty to clear up the issue of the 3.4L being starved for air.

So... yeup, you can do the deckplate now and add a snorkel later, but when you add the snorkel, you'll just want to put the deckplate in and keep it there.

 

the problem being is im doing the deckplte on the 3.0....so i know theres a diffrence in the airbox....so i think i might just wing it and see where it goes....

in the description, "90deg pvc" is all I needed to hear. there shouldn't be anything 90deg, slows airflow

 

do you have your upper intake hose still (one off the TB)? Are you going to sell it or is it in bad shape? I am looking for one.

 

cansomeone tell me what is on the rightside of the air box..itlooks like it wouldbe a good location for the deckplate, if i couldjsut remove it...any help on if it can be removed

 

It is a trap for oil from the BOV IIRC. You could remove if that is what it is.

 

BOV??? last time i checked that was blow off valve and im not turbo(LOL) so what is the BOV? or am i being suckered here

 

Yea I can't remimber what its called and I'm not currently sober but it is for excess crank case gasses IIRC.

 

"PCV" - Positive Crankcase Ventilation (or) Pollution Control Valve. I've heard both, I think the first one is more correct.

 

alright so i can disconnect the pcv from the right side of the air box.....i should probably put a breather on it right?
