I converted a 91 4runner with a 3vze and an auto trans to a five speed. I cannot get the cruise to work and I was thinking it was an electrical issue. mainly because i have three electrical connectors that aren't used anymore. I thought maybe the cruise needed to know that the automatic trans was in drive to allow it to work. I have some wiring diagrams on the trans but i'm thinking the auto trans I took out was not the original because the connections don't match the switches on the trans. Obviously there could be other reasons it's not working but the tranny swap is the only thing thats changed. Anyone have any ideas.

 

So the cruise worked before the tranny swap?

according to the guy i got it from it did, but the auto tranny was slipping so bad i never tried the cruise myself.

 

Hard to say if you never confirmed it worked before.
Probably just going to have to confirm you have everything mechanically hooked up right and then chase down the pinouts and get things matched up.
