Cracked dashboard

i have a lot of bad cracks in mine, and i am considering removing it for repair. has anybody ever used the regular bondo for filling the cracks? and then maybe like some dash restore liquid for UV protection? i have a dash mat, but i prefer the look of the dash instead...without the mat

and how do i get the dash off?

Hi, Heres what I did...I had to look at the manual 2 find out what I should do 2 release the safety pad. I tear down the craked material and since I like the metal body of it just painted with flat camouflage rustoleum brown paint.

Note: I had to put a rubber piece between the safety pad and the metal piece near the windshield, because without the soft material there was a gap between them.

Guess your dash is going 2 be way different than mine...

so the fsm doesnt appear to cover the removal procedure for the entire dashboard. and i also want to peek inside my windshield defroster vents for clogs. so any help or guidance for getting this thing out would be much appreciated

and thank you morena67 for your input, but unfortunately we have different years so i cannot use your info

Actually order from the local Advance Auto Parts store, and they special order them from the brand Cover King I believe. You can get them plane, or have them embroyder anything you want on it. I just kept it classic and had them do "TOYOTA" in all caps

Cover King dash covers are good. Get a black one to eliminate the reflection of the dash in the windshield. If I wanted to fill in the cracks I'd use RTV in the closest non-distracting color I could find. Kind of like when they patch the cracks in asphalt with tar, except it wouldn't stink.
