Coolant Sendor Help Needed

Ok, so recently I replaced my coolant sender for the dash gauge, and when I was tightening the new one, the entire area where it bolts into just snapped apart. I didn't know what to do, so I just pushed it in and threw some plumbers putty on top of it and called it good, i have a quart of coolant i have mixed up, just in case the reservoir gets too low. Please help, the guys at Toyota were baffled and didn't know what to do. Please, please help. I need this car to be functioning.

Pictures would be a big help!!!!

Then maybe just what your working on.

I really have no clue just how the manifold could just crumble unless in the past someone tried some epoxy type repair.

Then why it did not come apart when removing the old one.

Which motor? Sounds like you might just need to replace the assembly that the sensor mounts to.

You need to replace the "Outlet, Water Bypass." About $55. http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...rimLevel=18292

Of course, the exact part you need depends on the engine, transmission, drive (the 4wd Auto has another temperature sensor screwed in there, for instance), and to a lesser extent the model year. But now you have the tools to figure it all out.

the housing? replace it and don't over-tighten next time. just firm, like 5-10 ft-lbs with dope or tape.
