compatable 3vze swap years?

so i have a 92 4runner with a busted frame, and a garage in town has 4runner (also 2nd gen, but i do not know the year yet) with a blown engine. my truck has a build date of 11/91. are any 2nd v6's swappable into any other truck that had a 3.0? or is there some mid gen electronic switch that limits the options?..i know having the year of the 2nd truck would help alot, but its slipped my mind every time ive talked to the guy

any help?

I believe all 2nd gen's will work with one another. The only difference between them is the int. and ext. body panels and such. Even then most everything will bolt up.

I was told by the salvage yard I deal with that 93-95 are the same.
88-92 are the same.
Something about the bellhousing bolts and the motor mounts if I remember right.
If I'm wrong someone will let me know I'm sure.
LOL
I put one from a 93 pu in my 4runner. bolted right up np. However.
The wiring harness was not the same. So I change that and all the sensors etc. as I knew all mine were good.
Good luck

my 90 runner has a 95 engine planted in it. All the engines will work in any of them. Small differences are the pvc valve, the water pump, and a couple other minor things. I ended up using the 95 computer as well although it was working fine with my 90 computer. Just the fuel maps are a little different. If the tranny are the same its a simple engine swap.

Better check your motor mounts. I have a 3VZ that (GO engines)shafted me with on ebay. They claimed it would fit 88-92 it is stamped 3vz on the block but it does not have the mounting boses on the top of the block, just under the head, for the top holes on the motor mount.

i think the timing belt tensioner is hydraulic on the newer ones as opposed to a good old fashioned spring on the first ones.

I wonder if that could be an vzfe block instead of a vze block?
