Cold Air Intake Box Sound 1994 22RE

Hi folks,

Here is a wierd bogging sound coming from the air intake box as the engine goes through about 1500 RPM. The truck is running fine, but the sound is annoying. Any ideas?

Thanks Todd

That sounds about normal. I have a cold air on my truck and it makes like a gurgling sound when I hit the throttle; I believe its the AFM is no longer muffled through the intake box and you can hear it through the filter. Have you noticed any power loss?

I'm not seeing any power loss, just that throaty sound as I pass through about 1500 RPM. I never noticed it until I replaced my TPS recently.

I am taking a wild guess here... Sounds like what i would imagine the air filter rattling would sound like. Could the air filter be loose or broken in side the box?

It is the Air injection port opening up to pump fresh air into the exhaust. It emissions stuff.

Dark is right, and is what I was trying to say but not so well, haha. The vane in the AFM opens and balances out with fuel/exhaust, you can just hear it more without the filter box which would normally silence it quite a bit. As long as you get no CEL or power loss, you're fine.
