Clutch/transmission issue on 93 4x4

I bought a 93 extra cab 4x4 22re a few months ago. PO replaced master and slave cylinders. Has been shifting fine, though sometimes the clutch squeaks as its catching. I think it's the fork but not sure.

Anyway, the other day it started acting up and I can't easily diagnose the problem. When the truck is fully stopped, I can shift between gears fine. But when I am rolling at all, it does not let me go into 1st or 2nd without a lot of force. Sometimes it will grind a bit as I put it into 2nd. Seems okay going into 3, 4, 5... though sometimes its hard to get out of reverse. When decelerating to take turns I usually go into 2nd, but it won't let me do that like it should, so it's making driving around town kind of a pain. I've never had to work on clutch systems before. Could this still be related to the master/slave cylinders? Fluid level seems okay, no obvious leaks. When I have someone push in the clutch, the slave cylinder engages but the fork seems to squeak a bit (like I mentioned earlier). Is it time to just do the whole clutch over? I'd like to avoid that if it's something simpler but I'm pretty lost...

One suggestion is to check the bracket under the dash that holds the clutch pedal. A common problem is for that to crack and lose its rigidity, and then the pedal doesn't drive the master cylinder through its full stroke, leading to only partial clutch disengagement.

There are multiple threads about this on this forum. Search for "clutch bracket".

For the rough shifting, it's possible the PO refilled the trans w/ GL-5 gear oil instead of the good old GL-4?
These old transmissions have brass synchros which don't play well with the newer style GL-5 gear oil.
Might be worth draining the current stuff and putting in some 75w90 GL-4 gear oil and see if the shifting cleans up before tearing into it.

In case anyone searches this thread...

Turns out it was the clutch bracket. Looks like the clutch pedal adjustment lock nut came loose and so the pedal eventually gained too much play and probably wasn't engaging the clutch appropriately. I just tightened it up a few turns, tightened the lock nut, and it's shifting pretty good now. Took a few different small adjustments to get it right..
