Clutch Sounds

Hey I just installed a new clutch and whenever I rev up and shift you can hear the fingers of the clutch spinning or something like that. Has anyone had this happen? Or is it because its still new? Maybe I installed it wrong.

No. I've only heard the feet....from the hole in my floorboard...Fred Flintsone style.

Seriousl, though....I'm really not sure what you mean. Could you be a bit more desciptive of the sound? Any problem shifting or maintaining gear?

Might you be hearing noise from the clutch release bearing (a.k.a. throw-out bearing)? The "fingers" on the pressure plate contact the bearing as does the release lever (fork). If the bearing is worn, you might get some noise from it when you apply the clutch.

No, no problems whatsoever with shifting or maintaining gear, just a irritating noise, kinda hard to describe but a spinning sound, definetly the "fingers" of the pressure plate, just sucks because its totally new.

I'm almost willing to bet that the new clutch is more quiet than the old one and now you're hearing noises that were there all along, but were hidden, so now you are thinking it's the new clutch making the noises.

Did you replace the throw out bearing and pilot bearing with the clutch and pressure plate? That is probably the noise you are hearing.

I didn't think about that. The first time I replaced my clutch I went to Vatozone and the one they gave me wasn't right. The teeth or "fingers" on the pressure plate were longer than the stock ones. I pickup a clutch from Advance auto parts and it matched up perfect. This may be the case here.
