Clutch shudder

Hey guys,

Last week I put a new 22re engine and new Aisin clutch with remachined flywheel into my 4Runner. Drives great, clutch engages well and works fine. Days after I changed the master cylinder since it was leaking. After which the clutch operation felt alot tighter (in a good way)

After driving it a little hard today (got to some high speeds trying to keep up with someone on the highway) the pedal now has a little strange shudder. It's like, when I push it in it feels fine, but when I am letting it back out the pedal has a moderate 50Hz vibration in it, feels very strange on my foot and frankly it makes it a little harder to engage it smoothly since my tactile sense is being interrupted.

Any ideas what this is? I did not bleed the clutch system since I bench-bled the cylinder before I installed it... should I start by bleeding it?

I've not, but anytime you crack a hydraulic line you get air. So, yeah, I'd bleed it and see if makes a difference.

Are you sure got the flywheel torqued good? Clutch cover? Who machined the flywheel?

If you were slipping the clutch hard you may have glazed it a little; if that's it, it should wear off in time.

Could be that... it's a new clutch so I have not been hard on it, maybe its breaking in?

OK I bled it, there was a bit of crap and some air. Feels a bit better, but I think it's really just the new seal in the MC breaking in...
