hey guys i have a question about my clutch on my 90 4runner, i took it out in the mud and sand this weekend and the clutch started squeeling when i pushed the pedel in, i figured i got some sand into the throwout bearing or something then i went to start my truck in 1st gear with the clutch in and i noticed the clutch wasnt fully engaging and it got worse now the truck wont go into gear when its running and my clutch pedel just stays on the floor, i tried bleeding it abnd when i started the truck the first time it went into gear but not any time after that. when the truck is off the clutch pedel feels ok, but still kinda mushy, when i start the truck the pedel just stay on the floor, a guy told me the slave cyclinder may have some crap packed in it. has anyone else had this problem? im thinkin about pulling the tranny and checking the throwout bearing but if its not that i dont want to go through the work of pulling it. any help would be great. thanks. by the way its the 3.0 v6 if that matters

OH SH..!!. Well there's your problem. I was gonna steer ya toward this FSM link, and say hit the clutch troubleshooting section. Here it is if you might need it.

i didnt really do anything.. haha took it wheeling and it started squeeling so i figured some crap got packed into the throwout bearing, then all of a sudden there was no pressure in the clutch pedel and thats what i found...

Wow props for getting the tranny out that fast. It took me a week to do mine and pull everything and reinstall and hit the road but I was only working on it like 3 hours a day.

 

hmm ....looks to me like your definition of wheeling is being at a dead stop in sand with 6 psi in your tires atempting to do a 6k clutch dump just for fun...

 

damn. hope you get it fixed soon. I've never had clutch trouble, except for slipping at 185k. Got a new clutch 3k ago. Beautiful. Previous owner towed alot, so that's why. Could be hydraulic fluid pressure loss, lack of adequate engagement/disengagement due to improper bleeding, or excessive shock pressures.

haha well it started squeelin on the way to the dunes... so i was pretty sure the throwout bearing was startin to seize and once i got down there and gave her a little beating i noticed it was getting worse... still drove back...with the clutch pedal on the floor... only took about 2 hours to pull the tranny and clutch, now i just need to quit bein lazy and put it all back together..
