wont go in gear

ive replaced pressure plate slave cylinder master cylinder clutch and throw out bearing. it will start in neutral but wont go in gear when u try and put it in reverse it just grinds. does anyone know what could be up?

Same issue here please help!

1996 tacoma 3.4

I've replaced entire clutch kit. Slave cylinder, master cylinder, clutch lines both rubber and hard lines. clutch pedal has pressure now but won't go into any gear when truck is running. Goes in gear fine while motor not running. I can see through the clutch fork hole the throw out bearing and fork are moving fine.
I'm out of options on things it could be?
Could something have gone wrong when I put transmission back in?

Did the transmission go in nice and smooth ??

Lots of jerking and pushing can quite easily knock the clutch release bearing loose.

You did compare all the old and new parts so many times parts are boxed wrong .

Just what happened that you changed the clutch ??

It comes down to either one or more wrong clutch parts something installed wrong (knocked loose)

Just how bad was the old clutch ??

It could be a transmission problem was it jumping out of gear at all??

A bearing going bad will also cause hard shifting.

I originally had a problem with it loosing pressure when I had clutch in. It also at the time would occasionally pop out of 1st gear, if it wasn't pressed firmly in. I think it became habit to hold it forward until I switched to 2nd. I replaced slave and master cylinder, still wouldn't go into gear. Replaced rubber hoses and the lower hard line. I got pressure back in clutch but still wouldn't go into gear. A friend mechanic, mentioned springs in clutch. So I ordered clutch kit, the clutch was a little different but everything lined up well. I torqued plate down to 16lb-ish.
When the transmission was re-installed it was a little rough at 1st, some moving around and then it, just slipped in real easily. (kinda like a female )

I suspected something with the throw-out bearing happened while attaching transmission and my (more experienced) friend/help didn't want to admit it and tear it back down. I recall the fork sliding back n forth like a couple inches and you could feel it slide. (when the transmission was out)
Now the fork, is stiff back n forth and slightly loose up and down. Made point, that it was under pressure now and not possible to pull or push fork by hand, it had to be done by hydraulic pressure. (seemed sensible)


I've inspected clutch assembly plate as well seems fine, the return spring needs replaced, it's noisy and doesn't return the best.

While running, it won't go into any drive gear and grinds when trying to go into reverse.

Clutch kit included: Throw out bearing, and pilot bearing

Either the clutch release bearing came off the forks

Fell off all together

If it is not that Bearings in the transmission to the point it will not go into gear

Times like this would be nice to have an inspection plate.

Agreed! I'm tearing it back down today, I'll let you know what I see when it's out. Probably will be around 8-9pm, seeing as I have to work too.
