clutch master and slave

I've replaced my master cylinder on my clutch atleast 3 times a year, and just about the same for the slave cylinder. I'm wondering why I am having to do this so much. could it possibly be something else causing the problem? Iv already put a new bracket that holds the master cylinder along with the pedals when mine cracked. I just find it strange that I find myself having to change out the master again. any help or ideas would be appreciated.

why are you changing it? what is the issue with the system that requires you to change them?

(better wording: what are the symptoms?)

it is getting hard to shift into 1st gear, has the same feeling as last time before I replaced it and fixed it. I think it is just the crappy brand I keep getting at autozone/Oreillys. I read a couple other posts and they all suggested going with the oem aisin stock master cylinder so maybe that will last longer.

have you bled the system entirely? it's not hard to do, and takes like 5 mins with 2 people. use all new fluid and you should have a firm pedal.

you might also have a leak in the line somewhere. park over a piece of clean cardboard for a day and see if you get any drips

if you are actually burning through cylinders, here is a link to the stock replacements:

I had it bled all the way through when I last replaced it, no drips or leaks, adjustment is all the way out. I'm just frazzled at how many I have gone through. sweet thank you for the link! ordering it up now. I usually bench bleed the master cylinder, is that a pointless thing to do or is it that the proper way to do it?

it might be the proper way to do it, but when i did my slave cyl, i just bled everything on the truck, and it works fine.

After a couple of years of purchasing things from those two stores I've stopped purchasing starters, alternators and water pumps from them because it seems like their lifetime warranty means I'll definitely be replacing it before I should have to. From reading other peoples experiences with their clutch parts I wouldn't accept those either. A few people have used NAPA stuff with success but if I was going to replace mine I'd for sure go with the Aisin parts unless I was in a BIG hurry.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned here is that it's also a good idea to replace the rubber hose while you're at it. After about 20 years it's pretty much guaranteed that sucker has begun to break down. When it flexes you won't get full movement from the clutch.

i had to replace that line just before Marlin brought that line to market.
I replaced the slave cylinder thinking it was bad, turned out after 30+ years the line had blown. Replaced, no more issues.

marlin link Ian was gonna post

I'll throw this in. Mine was hard to get from first to second and almost impossible to get from second to first while rolling, even very slow, when the tranny was cold. I researched and found many recommended the Red Line MT 90. I finally tried it and it made a big difference in shifting. I don't push things still when it cold. May help.

I need to get the entire line and was just going to bend up 2 sections of universal hard line and get the stock rubber hose to connect the two.

Getting the entire SS line may be a better option for me. Did you have a hyd shop make it up? If so, what size did you use etc?

Also still considering the hard line route, so does anyone know what diameter that line is?
