clutch is gone?
So I'm pretty sure that my clutch is pretty much gone or will be pretty soon. So I'm wondering how much it usually costs to have it replaced and if I should have the stealership do it or just find a good transmition shop? Oh yea my truck is stick idk if that effects cost or not.

Yeah I'd say haveing a stick effects your cost a lot if the clutch disks in a auto go out i'd say its quite a bit more expencive. I wouldn't take it to the dealer for this. Find a good honist mechanic and have it do it see if he'll let you bring your own clutch in to install that'll save you soem cash.

well when I press the clutch in it makes a god aweful sound and it just doesnt feel right when I let of the peddle, I dont really know how to explain it. And also sometimes when I shift into a gear I will hit the gas the car will still be getting power but not much and the engine will rev way up.

yep sounds like its shot doing a clutch your self is about a 7 hour job not that hard and going any where else looking to spend a least $400 dollars may be more

Im in florence. Oh yea update on the situation the stealership in town wanted 700 just for labor so I desided that was out of the ?. Well I went to this guy I know who is a mechanic who also has a machine shop and he said for 750 he would get me a complete clutch kit, and also machine down the fly wheel b/c it has probably warped also.

florence,? small world man. Ive got a golf cart business on 501 past the Carolina Amptheater. dont know if you know where aynor tire is but they will install clutch for around $300-350. i bought a Hays super truck clutch for around $100 and having my flywheel resurfaced for $50. That would save you a little money if you wanted to go the same route.

my clutch went out just over a year ago and had AAMCO Transmissions do it. They quoted me originally about $750.00 But since I knew a guy there, they didnt it "under the table" after hours and I got it done for $400.00 I cant complain! No problems since!

The clutch really isn't that bad of a job. I did mine less then a year ago. No my truck is only 2wd so I know it makes it much easier, but it only took me about 3 hours to change it out. I only needed an extra set of hands for lowering and raising the tranny out/in to place.
This included sanding the flywheel to get the glaze off. Dunno if I'd want to mess with a 4wd and the transfercase though.
