Clutch Fork Ball Stud Squeaking

So I have that annoying squeaky clutch pedal and I'm almost certain the ball stud is probably dry, rusty or both.

My question is, will there be repercussions if I don't fix this, or is it completely harmless to the car? In other words, can I wait until its time for a new clutch?
